Opening a show with pyjamas is a bold move. Opening a show with pyjamas that are adorned with sky blue sequined stripes is pushing the boundary even as we know it. But the thing is, without a doubt, it just worked. The collection itself saw heavy weight, cable knits take centre stage juxtaposed against the shimmering, pop-art palette that is so signature to Ashish's designs. From burnt orange and fuchsia to vibrant red the whole show had accents of rich colour and this sense of casual glamour. With knitted fingerless gloves, the re-occuring cable knit sleeves and dresses the whole Serbian / Central Asian vibe was definitely coming through and with the collection named "Ashishistan" it was quite obviously the main influence. It really was quite astonishing to see two such contradictory styles work together in this concise and cohesive blend. It felt multi-cutural, modern and maybe slightly weird, but to be honest that is what we loved about it. Ashish managed to create a fantastic fairy tale which enthralled the fashion pack, creating a buzz of conversation after the show, so without further ado. All stand for the national anthem of Ashishistan.
